# Generative Icons > Generative Icons is a library of 1141 animated icons by LottieFiles. Each icon is a dotLottie file with a typed descriptor and runtime color, style (outline, solid, duotone), outline weight and motion (light, strong) options. Coding agents can create new icons in the same style in your project and offer them to the library with `generative-icons submit`. Library version: 0.1.0. ## When to use this - An app (web, React, iOS, Android) needs an animated UI icon: a status, an action, a navigation or toolbar control, an empty state, a loader, a toggle that plays between two states. - Icons should match each other and the app's theme: one family, recolored and restyled (outline, solid, duotone, weight, light or strong motion) at runtime rather than exported per variant. - Nothing in the library fits: a coding agent can create the icon in the same style with the `generative-icons` CLI (see the creation guide). - Not for: illustrations, photos, brand logos or long animations. ## For AI agents (no sign-in) - MCP server: https://generativeicons.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP). Package versions must match. ## Find icons - `npx generative-icons search ` prints matching icon IDs as JSON. - A missing icon can be created with `npx generative-icons create `: a JSON spec of shapes, rigs and eased keys, checked offline and exported on LottieFiles' hosted engine. `--from ` starts from a library icon's spec.
